SVP Community Partner Fair: Making the Connections Count

This month, SVP Portland held its first-ever Community Partner Fair at The Center Consultancy. The room was full of people with a shared purpose: to connect, learn from one another, and strengthen the work happening across our community.

Five Community Partner organizations joined us: The Fl!p Museum, Worksystems, Path Home, Future Generations Collaborative, and Escuela Viva. Each organization at a different stage of their work, each bringing something distinct to the table. Together with SVP's Investor Partners, they filled the evening with the kind of candid, generative conversation that's hard to manufacture and impossible to replicate on a Zoom call.

A Room Built for Real Conversation

The fair was structured to encourage genuine exchange rather than passive listening. Topic Tables gave Investor Partners and Community Partners time to sit across from one another, dig into real questions, and share what they're actually working on. The format worked. People stayed longer than expected, exchanged contact information, and left with follow-up conversations already scheduled.

SVP Community Partners connect with Investor Partners to share about their Challenges & Learning

More Than Visibility

For Community Partners, the fair offered something beyond visibility: access. Access to Investor Partners' networks, expertise, and genuine interest in their work. Several organizations identified potential collaborators, resource connections, or subject-matter experts they hadn't previously known were available to them through SVP.

Those conversations had an impact on Investor Partners too, not just in what they learned, but in how it landed.
