How do I become a partner?
Many partners are new to philanthropic giving while others have experience giving either personally or through formal organizations such as foundations. Those of us from the private sector may have given through employers who often "match" contributions. Partners may join for one of the following reasons:
- To invest money and time addressing social challenges, and to see the impact of that investment leveraged by pooling with other donors
- To learn more about the local nonprofit community, and how grant-making and hands-on volunteering work
- To be involved in collaborative decision-making with other partners and local nonprofits, as well as the venture capital principles in SVPP's model
We welcome partners who can offer expertise in a wide variety of disciplines. These include but are not limited to marketing, planning, management, finance, information technology, operations, publishing, website design, health services, education, legal services, real estate and fund raising.
How do I get involved?
Partners can be involved at whatever level suits their particular circumstances, from sitting on a standing committee which supports SVPP's operations, working with a team of people on a project to help a nonprofit, to assisting with one-time events. We work with you to identify your areas of interest and to find the level of participation that suits you.
What is the necessary financial commitment?
Partnership requires a minimum commitment of $5,000 each year. A partnership consists of one or two people, i.e. couples, business partners, siblings, business friends and employee-sponsored partnerships. For those younger than 40 years of age, the minimum commitment is $1,500. All donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by current law. SVPP is a tax exempt organization, a 501(c)3, as defined by the U.S. Treasury.
