Business Partner: Center for Equity and Inclusion

It has been a productive year for our Business Partnership with the Center for Equity and Inclusion (CEI). SVP amplified CEI’s community contribution and brand visibility, and provided marketing support – branding, public relations plan, marketing plan – for CEI co-founder Hanif Fazal’s book, “An Other World.”

CEI Senior Facilitator, Ann Nguyen, provided SVP staff with training in applying a racial equity filter so we do not unintentionally perpetuate exclusion in our work. “I am inspired by SVP’s commitment to equity and inclusion,” says Ann. “By centering racial equity, possibility opens up: possibility of dismantling racist systems and ways of being, possibility of creating more efficient and effective solutions, and possibility of transforming who we become.”

CEI is also supporting our commitment to becoming an anti-racist organization by generously allowing all engaged Partners the opportunity to participate in Reframing Racism free of charge. This virtual and self-paced course explores definitions, racial frameworks, and history while challenging participants to think critically and build their skills related to race equity. The course will start on January 1, 2024 so there is still time to RSVP if you haven’t done so already!

Participation in the training the CEI provides allows SVP staff and Partners to learn and grow, and also helps SVP Portland to better show up for our Community Partners. We really value our partnership with CEI!
